And here’s why…
- When I set up the blog Living On A Shoestring it was 2011 and I was right in the middle of doing up my flat and garden with my then boyfriend, (now husband!) Stephen and we were doing a lot of DIY for very little money and the name seemed super appropriate…
- Now in 2016 I am still doing things for as little as possible but that’s not what this blog is about anymore…
- In 2011 I didn’t even own a sewing machine…
- For Christmas 2012 the lovely Stephen got me a sewing machine and I was excited but basically too scared to touch it until…
- April 2013 I started sewing a very simple quilt with my wonderful friend Jane and started to fall in love with crafting again, especially knitting…
- In October 2014 I finally took a class to start making clothes and that was it- I was totally obsessed with all things sewing…
- Now the blog is sewing, sewing, sewing and occasionally knitting but it’s basically a sewing blog so the title just doesn’t fit!
Meanwhile…
- I have had a pop up and online shop for crafters that I set up with my lovely friend Katie since 2009 called Gabberdashery…
- It’s a freaking awesome name that my friend Alasdair inspired and just so happens to have a lot more to do with sewing…
- It might still be a shop and other things further down the line but it’s been my brand for so long I want to keep it a big part of my life and that just happens to be…
- My sewing blog!
Also I have all the domains, social networks in Gabberdashery so that’s a big tick in this age of our chosen @ names getting harder and harder to obtain!!
So yes – nothing else is really changing – the domain www.livingonashoestring.net still exists here and will for a little while but now www.gabberdashery.com also points here and hopefully the change will be seamless as it’s a big decision to change something that you work hard to build up a loyal following to but I’m hoping you will all come with me in this and other ventures I may have up my sleeve!! 😉
