The Nursery Nook Tour!

Hello you lovely lot!

So you probably know by now why I have been ridiculously absent from my blog – I had a baby!

Beatrix was born on 27th March by an unplanned C Section in the end and she really is the love of my life ( along with my husband, Stephen and Hobbes my dog of course!) It has not been an easy ride but I am just about feeling more normal again now and really want to get back to do some things that make me feel more me like blogging (I still feel sewing might be a long way off but all in good time!)

Bea arrived 2 weeks early so of course I am massively behind on everything I was going to do before she was born – I really thought I would have at least 2 weeks to prepare for her arrival…

One thing that I did feel unusually prepared for though was our bedroom which is now basically a nursery!

Stephen and I have lived in the same tiny one bedroom flat in north London for over 11 years and we have slowly but surely filled it to the rim with stuff – our obsession with car boot sales and charity shops has led us to a very cramped living space so we had some epic changes to make before welcoming a baby into our lives. Decluttering happened first – on a grand scale – more than half the ‘stuff’ left the house! Then started the DIY! I have done a series of vlogs all about that bit here:

We have pretty much redone the whole flat – we have replastered walls – firstly by ourselves and then after a shocking attempt a professional took over! We’ve had family over to help us paint walls, skirting boards, doors (which we decided to swap over too and yes ended up with a professional fitting them!) We’ve put up many shelves and added creative touches where possible!

The main change was definitely in the bedroom which started out like this:

Ok I’m struggling to find a good picture but we used to have a loft bed with my sewing area underneath and our clothes on ‘pull up bar’ rails in the alcoves and underneath the bed. So now it is very different…

The AMAZING cloud wallpaper was very kindly gifted to us by Murals Wallpaper who have the most incredible range of murals – we kept changing our mind which one we wanted as there are so many good ones but when we decided to hang some of the hot air balloons we made for our wedding three years ago on the nursery wall it became very obvious that this one called ‘Nimbus‘ was the perfect fit and we couldn’t be happier with it if we tried!!

If you want to see how easy it was to put up stop motion stylee then here’s my vlog:

So that’s the nursery the tidiest it will ever be (!) and as I can hear Bea waking up from her nap and it has literally taken me months to finish this blog I will leave it here! 😉

SO much love to everyone,

Hello I’m Gabby! When I’m not singing with my band 'Gabby Young' I’m mainly sewing, dreaming about fabrics, patterns or knitting and vlogging or blogging about it all! Come join me! Xox Gabby

  1. Congratulations on your new addition. The room looks lovely. Enjoy the new little one, they grow so fast. When they are small you think they will be that age forever. Be present for every moment.
