The Francoise Dress!!

Morning lovelies!!
I have to be quick as I’m off to another show- in the middle of a house tour at the moment – so lovely to be all these different houses and meeting so many wonderful people – but more on that later!!I have been unable to blog about what I’m making this month as they are all Christmas presents and seeing as my family might be the only people reading this blog I’m not letting the cat of the bag till they have got them- but I can’t wait for you all to see what I’ve been up to! NB. I’m afraid there are no cats in bags for any of my family… sorry!! 😉

ANYWAY – to the point that I am here…
I have made a dress for a competition from another amazing Tilly & The Buttons design…

THE FRANCOISE

I really loved making this dress – I have been working on it for a couple of weeks but haven’t had any days off so just found an hour here and there to carry on with it.

The fabric is from my new favourite fabric shop – Fabrics Galore in Lavender Hill, Battersea and I used both sides and love the variation on the collar. This material is AMAZING it is spotty one side, stripey the other, warm, slightly stretchy, easy to work with and really cheap at £3.50 a metre – I might make everything in it for winter from now on!!

I decided to use white thread for interest and contrast and also added a strip of black lace from John Lewis to the hem as I wanted to add a bit of glamour and length!

I have more pictures but not enough time so here is my competition entry photo and I will have to post more later…

#SewingFrancoise

Fingers crossed (the prizes would be so needed and make me very happy but there are LOTS of amazing entries here!) If by any chance I am in the shortlist you can vote for me so please watch this space!

OK, off to Cheltenham!

Lots of love to all of you robins and reindeers,

  1. Looks like a winner to me!

  2. That dress is amazing! You’re getting my vote.

  3. You’ve done a great job with this dress and it doesn’t look at all like you’re new to sewing! I’ve been reading a few of your posts and it’s lovely to find someone who’s at a similar stage to me in their sewing journey. I’ve made six whole garments so far whoo hoo! Like you I am completely obsessed, it’s so much fun.

  4. So a cute dress, I love the fabric and the lace…
